COMING HOME is profoundly powerful in so many ways!
I am coming off one of the lovliest weekends I’ve enjoyed in a long time. We hosted our seasonal life-warming gathering – lots of friends, potluck dinner, songs around the fire outside, and then I played the best set of my life with my musical brother, Alex Burkoy, as TreeBrother in our living room, with the fire dancing to ward away the frosty cold.
I never felt at home in myself when I was a kid. I’ve been coming home to myself, to my strengths, to my soul purpose, to my heart, and more recently to this home we are building in Taradale, (with a garden for growing food and lots of space for our animals to enjoy) for the last 30 years or so.
It’s been a long, sometimes challenging, organic, and very non-linear process. It’s taken all sorts of learning, growth, and will. It’s helped me transcend trauma, outgrow family patterns, heal addictions, heal CFS/Lyme, and grow into a path with heart that nourishes my life in so many ways.
I’ve been thinking about coming home this week.
What is home?
For me, my first home is myself, this body, this consciousness. This strange and wonderful ‘earthsuit’ that I inhabit. I want to be coming home into awareness of myself as often and as powerful as I can. many times a day. Interestingly, when I do this, I see my pets respond with relaxation signs, and a desire to connect with me. The more I am at home in my body, the happier and healthier I become. The more I care for and make my being strong, the more at home I am in myself.
And the more I can nourish my beautiful animals, care for them, and make them feel loved, safe, and secure.
My next layer of home is my relationships – my beloved, my family, and my community. Coming home means having a network of beings who I care for, and who care for me. Again – this takes work, will, perseverence. Relationships are like a garden – they need tending. My animals are part of my family. The more nourished I am by healthy relationships, the more I can nourish (and be nourished by) my beautiful animals.
Where I live is another layer of coming home – my home, how I live, how I care for my home, the feeling my home gives me.
Community is next- the place and beings who I live with.
Coming Home – how do you do this?
Intention is the first step – followed by consistent actions. You have to make all of your homes, and your ongoing, continual journey back to them, an honest priority.
The more you care, the better you behave. The better you behave, the better life gets. It’s really very simple 🙂 How are you coming home?
Another fun, healing, highly effective way come home is to come and learn Whole Energy Body Balance™ with me. This modality, created from 28 years of direct, deep experience in hands-on therapies with animals and humans, and in inituitive/energyhealing work, not only helps you awaken and express the power of your healing capacity (yes, you are a powerful healer, we all are), but it is highly effective in teaching you how to be continually coming home to yourself..
Our core practice in WEBB, The Somatic Embodiment + Energy Connection process, is designed to get you into the most powerful state of presence and connection possible. This then sets you up to do healing work with pets (or with people) in a way that nourishes and protects you.
I invite you to consider Whole Energy Body Balance™ Bodywork for Pets. Not only will you learn how to find and heal your pet’s Silent Pain, Anxiety, and Trauma, but you’ll learn how to listen deeply as you explore therapeutic touch with your pets (who will LOVE IT).
Here’s a short video of me discussing this topic.
