TAKING RESPONSIBILITY is a key step for all healing, growth, and evolution.
Taking responsibility is the key. For me, it’s been the key to healing from CFS/Lyme. For getting my relationship with my pets into the best place ever. And so many more good things. I didn’t always use to be good at taking responsibility. And that meant that I suffered, my pets suffered, and my life suffered.
Let’s look at the meaning of these words.
Taking: ‘to get a thing (physical or non-physical)into one’s awareness, possession, care, and control’ – the older meanings include ‘to touch, grasp, seize hold of’.
If you are taking responsibility, you are actively reaching out to understand what you ned to care for, and grasping it! This is an ACTIVE, dynamic process. Seeking, acting, and doing this is ongoing.
Responsibility: ‘to have a duty to make certain that particular things are done and cared for’ – the older meanings include ‘fact or condition of being accountable, or answerable. Respond, answer to, promise.’
I find the older meanings here really interesting. Especially the sense of responding to a need, answering to yourself and other beings, and a promise being inherent in this.
Taking responsibility takes effort. Ongoing curiosity. And right action. For me, it’s been a learning process, because it’s something that I can get better and better at over time.
There is nothing that won’t improve if you get better at taking responsibility! You’ll get better at caring for your pets. You’ll get better at caring for yourself. Your relationships will get stronger and healthier. Your life will get smoother.
Taking Responsibility is a sacred path of healing and connection.
The more you become aware, the more you’ll naturally see where you need to be taking responsibility in your life, for your [ets, for your family, for your community, and for the world.
Curiosity is a great beginning. We all have blind spots, and curiosity helps us see what we can’t see.
A caring heart and a willingness to do the hard things that need doing is important. Even if you don’t like them much, even if your pets don’t like them either.
Taking responsibility can seem a bit thankless sometimes. How I keep myself motivated to do this is to know how much good it brings, how much it helps me and my family, and my pets.
